The invention relates to a tamper-evident package, comprising a container having a neck portion having an external, helical thread formation thereon; and a closure having a top wall portion and a skirt portion having a mating formation, said closure including a sealing portion to sealingly engage the neck portion, said closure including a tamper-evident band, frangibly connected to said skirt portion, to engage said container during removal of said closure, including inwardly extending flexible projections, said sealing portion of said closure being positioned relative to said thread formations to move out of sealing engagement with said container after engagement of said tamper-evident band with said container, and fracture of said frangible connection, said closure being applied to said container, and being movable through a predetermined angle prior to engagement of said tamper-evident band with said container for fracture of said frangible connection
