Summary:The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for activating a safety device, particularly an occupant protection device in a vehicle, the apparatus (1) comprising an actuator (10) and an energy accumulator (12), characterized in that the apparatus (1) comprises a permanent magnet (14) that blocks the release of the energy stored in the energy accumulator (12) in a starting state of the apparatus (1) and that the magnetic flow created by the permanent magnet (14) can be temporarily changed by the actuator (10) in such a way that the energy stored in the energy accumulator (12) can be released for activating the safety device.
