Summary:Coating a fiber-reinforced plastic composite produced by a crushed core process from a composite comprising a core and a prepreg covering comprises using a substrate-supported polymer film comprising a resin and a filler, where the resin comprises an aromatic polycyanate and an aromatic polyol in amounts such that the molar ratio of cyanate groups to hydroxy groups is 95:5 to 70:30 and the degree of crosslinking of the resin is below its gel point. Coating a fiber-reinforced plastic composite produced by a crushed core process from a composite comprising a core and a prepreg covering comprises using a substrate-supported polymer film comprising a resin and a filler, where the resin comprises an aromatic polycyanate and an aromatic polyol in amounts such that the molar ratio of cyanate groups to hydroxy groups is 95:5 to 70:30 and the degree of crosslinking of the resin is below its gel point. The resin side of the film is placed on the prepreg, the substrate is removed and the composite is then cured under pressure at elevated temperature.
