Summary:The sound damper for a suction manifold of an automotive engine has the suction manifold mouth (13) located in the region of the outer wall (11) of a car body component which contains slotted apertures (14). A sound absorbing element (15) surrounds the space between the car body component and the suction manifold. Pref. the absorbing element is of formed plastics and may be coupled to a resonator. The resonator may be integrated with the plastics sound absorber element.
