Summary: | The present invention relates to a method of making an olefin product from an oxygenate feedstock, comprising providing a silicoaluminophosphate molecular sieve having a pores size of less than 5 angstroms and having catalytic sites protected by a shield, wherein the shield is selected from a carbonaceous material, an anhydrous gas or liquid; storing the molecular sieve in shielded form; removing the shield from the molecular sieve; and, after removing the shield, contacting the molecular sieve with an oxygenate feedstock at a temperature of from 200 DEG C to 700 DEG C to produce an olefin product, the molecular sieve contacting the oxygenate feedstock having a methanol uptake index of at least 0.15. |
