Summary:By the method for the purification of 2-oxo-1-pyrrolydineacetamide containing 2-oxo-1-pyrrolydineacetic acid, the raw product is treated in a medium of polar proton or aproton organic solvents at temperature ranging from 60 to 130°C with a reagent having the general formula Na+ A- where Na+ means sodium cation and A- is anionic particle representing hydride, amide anion, RO- or R1, R meaning lower carbon saturated radical having 1 to 6 carbon atoms in a straight or branching chain and R1 being carbon aliphatic, aromatic or heteroaliphatic radical containing oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen. The solution of the acidic impurities-containing substance can optionally be treated with activated carbon before or after the addition of the Na+ A- reagent. The reaction mixture is hot filtered, the filtrate is cooled to 5-150°C and the crystallized end product is separated.
