Summary:The method is used in the preparation of cement suspensions, mortar, and concrete in compliance with certain cases in construction and construction-related activities. The method provides a possibility for the determination of the plasticisation capacity of superplasticisers; this method may be used at various water-to-cement ratios. The slump and the corresponding area will be determined for the entire batch of cement, as well as the beneficial effects of the superplasticiser concentration; the optimum superplasticiser dosing is determined based on the grade and composition of Portland cement used. The method consists of measuring the slump of the cement paste for three different plasticiser doses, by placing the paste in a Southard viscometer; the slump diameter is measured after removal of the cement paste from the instrument and after the cement paste has been shaken for 25-35 s using a standard shaker table.
