Summary:This method is an application for non-ferrous metallurgy. By this method the consumption of fluxes is reduced, the slag-formation processes are intensified and the quantity of the cold turnover materials being processed is increased. During the first period of converting fluxes, the cold turnover materials are fed. In the converter, preceding the pouring of each portion of matter, floatation wastes from coal dressings are supplied which feature the following composition in wt.%: carbon 30 - 50, silica 20 - 30, calcium oxide 2 - 5, alumina 5 - 10 and ferrous oxides 2 - 5. The ignition temperature of the floatation waste is 250-450 degrees C and its quantity is 5 - 15% of the mass of the fed matter.
