Summary:Compositions and processes for the administration of disodium 1,3-bis(2-carboxychromon-5-yloxy)-2-hydroxypropane (also known as disodiumcromoglycate or DSCG) and biologues of DSCG to animals for the prophylactic treatment of allergies opt. of a reagin-carrying nature comprise (a) administering a sensitisation dose of DSCG or DSCG biologue which has an inhibitory effect on the allergic manifestation followed by (b) administering a supporting dose of DSCG or DSCG biologue to give a stronger inhibition of the allergic manifestation by the supporting dose than by the sensitisation dose. Dosage scheme to give inhibition of allergic states similar or superior to that previously found but using lower doses than used previously, thus avoiding side-effects and saving on cost of medicament used; e.g. used to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis and food allergies.
