Summary:Compressing apparatus having die filling means adapted to fill a die with formable material, adjustable means for regulating the amount of formable material received in the die and force applying means for applying compressing force to the material within the die. Means are provided for measuring the force applied to the formable material within the die by the force applying means and producing a control signal which varies in proportion to said measured force which in turn indicates the degree to which the die was filled during a given compression operation. First switching means is provided which is responsive to the control signal and adapted to effect adjustment of the adjustable die filling means to control the weight and, therefore, the amount of formable material in each of the dies and thereby the force imparted to the formable material. A prearming circuit including second switching means is provided which is also responsive to the magnitude of said control signal to prevent the first switching means from being effective to effect adjustment of the adjustable die filling means during intervals of time when the magnitude of the signal is below the predefined threshold value.
