Summary:The present invention provides a composite turnbuckle (10) comprising a pair of co-axial and spaced annular end fittings (12). Each end fitting (12) has a threaded interior surface (11) and an outer surface. The end fittings (12) are made of metal. The turnbuckle (10) has a body (14) that extends between the end fittings (12). The body (14) includes a non-metallic material. The end fittings (12) are secured to the body (14) to limit relative axial movement between the end fittings (12) and the body (14). The turnbuckle (10) may be used in connection with riggings of sailing vessels, for example.
