Summary:A conveyor (12) moves the hollow body (esp. bottle) on a circular path through an inspection region, where it is tuned about an axis of symmetry, parallel to the axis of the circular path. A unit (16) illuminates the body in the inspection region. A photodetector receives the light from the body. Plane mirrors (34) are arranged at a given angle to one another in the light path between the inspection region and the photodetector. - The speed of the conveyor and of the rotation of the body are chosen so that the body makes one turn in the inspection zone and 1/n of a turn for each of n mirrors. The angle between one mirror and another, with the plane of the mirror at right angles to the plane of the conveyor tracks, is 1/n of the total angle of the inspection region.
