OPTICAL COUPLER

An optical coupler comprising N (where N stands for an integer of not less than 2) optical fibers having one end coupled and the other end branched, and N optical coupler parts. The coupling end of each optical fiber comprises two planes angled at 360 DEG /N, including a fiber-abutting plane incline...

Summary:An optical coupler comprising N (where N stands for an integer of not less than 2) optical fibers having one end coupled and the other end branched, and N optical coupler parts. The coupling end of each optical fiber comprises two planes angled at 360 DEG /N, including a fiber-abutting plane inclined at an angle theta to the optical fiber axis, and also a light-coupling plane perpendicular to the abutting plane. Each of the optical coupler parts is constructed by inserting an optical fiber in an optical fiber-retaining hole (12) of a block (1, 2) and forming a fiber-abutting plane and a light-coupling plane perpendicular to the abutting plane. The fiber-abutting planes of the optical coupler parts are eengaged with each other to construct an optical coupler.
