Summary:1399408 Fructose; enzymatic isomerization of glucose ANHEUSER-BUSCH Ine 1 Oct 1973 [10 Oct 1972] 45746/73 Heading C2S [Also in Division C3] A process for the production of glucose isomerase involves growing a micro-organism of the genus Actinoplanes in a culture medium and recovering the enzyme therefrom (whole cells or cell-free extract). Actinoplanes missouriensis NRRL B-3342, A. philippinensis, A. armeniacus and Actinoplanes sp ATCC 23342 are particularly mentioned. Isomerization by the enzyme of D-glucose to D-fructose may take place at temperatures of 40-90‹ C., pHs in the range 5À5-9À0 and glucose concentrations greater than 0À1 M, in the presence of 0À1-9À0 mM magnesium ion or 0À05-0À6 mM cobaltous ion.
