Summary:1429983 Organic pigments BASF AG 26 July 1973 [27 July 1972] 35541/73 Heading C4P New pigments are of formula (in which R1 is halogen or nitro; n is 0-2; A is the residue of a dialdehyde or a diketone of formula O=A=O). The pigments are obtained by condensing a dialdehyde or diketone of formula O=A=O (or an acetal or ketal thereof) with a hydrazone of a 3-acetyl-2,4-dihydroxyquinoline, which may be prepared in situ. Specific pigments are derived from glyoxal, naphthalene-2,6-dialdehyde, terephthaldehyde, 2,5 - dimethoxyterephthaldehyde, 2,5 - dichloroterephthaldehyde, diacetyl and benzyl as O=A=O. The pigments are used to colour plastics materials, surface coatings and printing inks.
