Summary:A substituted carbanilic acid ester of the formula wherein R1 is C1-C6-alkyl, C2-C6-alkenyl, C2-C6-alkinyl, chlorinated C1-C6-alkyl or phenyl-C1-C5-alkyl, R2 is hydrogen or chlorine, R3 is hydrogen or C1-C6-alkyl, R4 is hydrogen, C1-C6-alkyl or phenyl which latter may also be substituted, R5 is halogen, and R6 is hydrogen or halogen. The compounds of the invention have a surprisingly high compatibility with rice, wheat, barley, oats, rye, and agricultural grasses when applied in a postemergence procedure. They also have a high activity against weeds of various resistant genera.
