Summary:A method and package which allows for butchering and packaging of fresh red meat at a centralized facility is provided. The package includes a substantially gas-impermeable tray supporting a product, a first permeable and/or perforated film sealed to the tray for enclosing the product, and a second substantially gas-impermeable film enclosing the first film, such that removal of said substantially gas-impermeable film provides for the exchange of gases into and out of the package. One of either the first or second films has been corona treated and the two films are pressed together to form a laminate. The laminate is sealed to the tray such that the first film is sealed to the tray and the second film is peelably sealed to the first film.
