Date Dec. 19, 1985.In a diskfile device wherein a large amount of information transmitted by documents, images, sounds, etc. are stored in a lot of disks, these disks are included in respective cartridges (1), these cartridges (1) are accommodated in a stocker, and a cartridge (1) selectively drawn from the stocker (2) is fed to a player (4) so as to insert information in and extract information from the disk in the cartridge (1), the diskfile device comprises a stationary stocker (2) for accommodating a lot of cartridges (1) in parallel with one another in respective shelves (3) of the stocker (2), a plurality of stationary players (4) (5) for inserting information in and extracting information from the disk, and a carrier (6) linearly movable between and in front of the stocker (2) and the plurality of players (4) (5), wherein a cartridge (1) selectively drawn from the stocker (2) is selectively fed to either of the players by the carrier (6) and a cartridge (1) which has been used on the other player is returned back by the carrier (6) to a shelf reserved for this cartridge (1), so that a large amount of information can selectively be extracted and inserted on high speed.
