Summary:A dialysis machine (20) operable with a disposable set (120) having at least one container (124a to 124d), the dialysis machine (20) including a pump actuator (60) operable to pump dialysis fluid to and/or from the at least one container (124a to 124d); a weigh plate (104) positioned to support the at least one container (124a to 124d); a plurality of operational load cells (102a to 102d) positioned to support the weigh plate (104); a linear actuator (112) positioned to apply a force to the weigh plate (104); a calibration load cell (114) positioned to measure the force applied by the linear actuator (112); and a control unit (50) in operable communication with the operational load cells (102a to 102d), the linear actuator (112) and the calibration load cell (114), the control unit (50) configured to cause the linear actuator (112) to apply the force to the weigh plate (104), compare resulting outputs from the operational load cells (102a to 102d) and the calibration load cell (114), and determine a calibration factor from the comparison for offsetting future outputs from the operational load cells (102a to 102d).
