Summary:A liquid tank device (1) comprises a tank housing (2) for storing a liquid (4) within a tank volume (3) inside of the tank housing (2), whereby the tank housing (2) comprises at least one conduit opening (5) that can be connected in a liquid-tight manner to at least one conduit (6) for the liquid (4) such that the liquid (4) can be supplied to or removed from the tank volume (3) within the tank housing (2) through the conduit opening (5). A method for warning of and avoiding critical operating conditions of a liquid tank device (1) comprises the detection of a tilting of the tank housing (2) by means of a tilt detection device (12). The tank volume (3) is shut off from the at least one conduit (6) by means of a closing device (13) if a tilt information from the tilt detection device (12) exceeds a preset tilt value, resulting in avoiding further flow of liquid (4) into or from the tank volume (3) through the at least one conduit (6) after detecting the tilting of the tank housing (2).
