Summary:The present invention generally re lates to a system and a method for trust based intrusion detection in a distributed IOT system. The system comprises a trust score computation unit for computation of a trust score for each node of the di stributed I oT system. The trust sc ore is based on t he node' s response to a nei ghboring node. The tr ust-based IDS also hasa di stributed ledger for stori ng and vali dating the trust score of each node of t he distributed IoT system. Lastly, the trus t-based IDS comprises an evaluation unit for d etermination of a m alicious node and a I eader node based on evaluation of the trust score wi th its corresponding entry in the distributed ledger. Here, the determination of a malicious node helps in prevention of an insider attack. The system uses trust computation in complete network for efficient intrusi on detecti on.
