Summary:The present disclosure relates to a method for a video summarization based on a motion vectors and prediction error frame energy. The input video is separated into individual frames. Each video frame is divided into 16X16 blocks. The motion vectors (MV) and the prediction error between two consecutive frames of the video is calculated. The entropy of the motion vectors and the energy of the prediction error for the entire video is calculated. If the entropy of the motion vectors of the entire video is above zero, then the entropy gain of individual frame is used to extract the keyframe. If the entropy of the motion vectors is less than or equal to zero, then the difference between the frame energy of the prediction error of the two consecutive frames is calculated and the frames whose difference is above the adaptive threshold value is selected as keyframe.
