Summary:Disclosed herein are thermoplastic assemblies (100), methods of defining thermoplastic assemblies (200), aircraft (10) that comprise the thermoplastic assemblies (100), and aircraft (10) that are formed utilizing the methods are disclosed herein. The methods (200) can comprise heating a 5 joining structure (210) and pressing a thermoplastic layer against a base of the joining structure (220). The pressing may comprise transferring thermal energy from the joining structure to the thermoplastic layer (212) and penetrating the thermoplastic layer with a plurality of reinforcing projections (214) of the joining structure. The pressing may also comprise adhering the thermoplastic layer to a surface of the base and to a surface of the plurality of reinforcing projections (216).
