Summary:The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition containing trametinib or gefitinib for preventing or treating macular degeneration, and a method for screening a macular degeneration medicine. The pharmaceutical composition of the present invention inhibits the phosphorylation of keratin 8 and the reorganization thereof around the nucleus in retinal pigment epithelial cells under oxidative stress conditions, increases the expression of E-cadherin, and reduces the expression of vimentin, and thus the pharmaceutical composition can be useful for the prevention or treatment of macular degeneration.
