Summary:A communication system which remotely verifies that a person ("Responder") has not become disabled by the onset of illness, an accident or some other cause. The system comprises a base station, a third party communication device (which may also subsume the functionality of the base station) and a Responder's communication device. The absence of disablement or illness is inferred by the ability of the Responder to respond in a structured way to communications from the base station; conversely, the presence of disablement or illness is inferred by their inability to do so.
