Disclosed is a clothes treating apparatus comprising: a cabinet; a drum which is provided in the cabinet and provides a space for receiving laundry or an object to be dried; a heat pump module which circulates a refrigerant through a compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator, and re-circulates air discharged from the drum to the drum via the evaporator and the condenser; and a foreign substance cleaning unit which cleans foreign substances adhering to the evaporator by spraying water on the evaporator. The foreign substance cleaning unit comprises: a washing water supply unit; a nozzle unit which incliningly sprays, at a predetermined angle, washing water supplied from the washing water supply unit on a vertical surface, which is a washing water spraying surface on the evaporator; a washing water supply pipe which connects the washing water supply unit and the nozzle unit; and a washing water supply valve which is installed on the washing water supply pipe.
