Summary:Abstract The present invention relates to a guide for guiding a medical instrument during a medical procedure on an anatomical structure. The guide includes first and second clamp members configured to be positioned on opposite side of the anatomical structure. Also included are first and second biasing mechanism extending between the first and second clamp members. The first and second clamp members provide a clamping force on the anatomical structure to secure the guide to the anatomical structure. One of the clamp members is configured to cooperate with the medical instrument in order to guide and support the medical instrument during the medical procedure. The clamp members are biased towards each other to provide at least a portion of the clamping force on the anatomical structure. The first biasing mechanism extends between the first and second clamp members adjacent a first end of the first and second clamp members and the second biasing mechanism extends between the first and second clamp members adjacent a second end of the first and second clamp members. The invention also relates to a medical device for performing a medical procedure including a manipulator including a shaft, a resection line guide being coupled to the shaft and being configured to clamp an anatomical structure in the human body, and a flexible member operably coupled to the manipulator and extending through the shaft to the resection line guide, wherein the manipulator is configured to place the flexible member in tension so that the resection line guide imposes a clamping force on the anatomical structure.
