Summary:[Problem] To provide a liquid developer for electrophotography or electrostatic recording, said developer having good particle homogeneity, storage stability, fixability and electrophoretic properties. [Solution] Provided is a liquid developer containing colored resin particles obtained through coacervation by granulating at least acidic carbon black as pigment, a binder resin containing an acid group-containing resin, a basic group-containing pigment dispersant, 0.1 to 10.0 parts by mass of a pigment-dispersing aid, which is an acidic pigment derivative, with respect to 100 parts by mass of the pigment, and a granulation aid. The colored resin particles are dispersed in an insulating solvent by means of a particle dispersant.
