Summary: | Above-critical coating composition comprises an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles, pigment particles, and extender particles wherein the polymer particles comprise, in a single phase and based on the weight of the polymer particles, from 35 to 79.9 weight percent structural units of vinyl acetate and from 0.1 to 6 weight percent structural units of a phosphorus acid monomer or a salt thereof, wherein the polymer particles have a particle size by dynamic light scattering of from 250nm to 500nm. The above-critical coating composition shows surprising improvements in hiding with increasing particle size of the polymer particles. |
