Summary: | An all-vanadium redox flow battery and an operation method thereof, which belong to the field of flow batteries. The all-vanadium redox flow battery comprises a positive electrode electrolyte and a negative electrode electrolyte. A total vanadium ratio of the positive electrode electrolyte and the negative electrode electrolyte is maintained at the following ratio: positive electrode: negative electrode = 1:1.5-1:1.2. Both the positive electrode electrolyte and negative electrode electrolyte comprise additives, the concentration of the additives being 0.01mol/L-0.5mol/L. The additive is at least one selected from sulfuric acid, sulfate, phosphoric acid, phosphate, pyrophosphate, and polyphosphate. The all-vanadium redox flow battery can maintain high-energy-density operation, and can also significantly reduce discharge energy irreversible attenuation caused by a hydrogen evolution side-reaction. |
