A first washer is positioned between the inner side of the first element and the inner side of the second element. A second washer is positioned between the rivet head and the outer side of the second element. The first washer may reside at least partly within a recess formed in the first element. The second washer may reside at least partly within a concave region formed in the underside of the rivet head. The aperture in the second element may form a cylindrical surface that bears against the rivet shaft without the use of a washer between the cylindrical surface and the rivet shaft.
