TELEMETRY OPERATED CEMENTING PLUG RELEASE SYSTEM A plug release system (60) for cementing a tubular string (15) into a wellbore (24) includes: a wiper plug (60b); a tubular housing (61); a latch (66) for releasably connecting the wiper plug (60b) to the housing (61). The latch (66) includes: a fastener (71) engageable with one of the wiper plug (60b) and the housing (61); a lock (70) movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, the lock (70) keeping the fastener (71) engaged in the locked position; and an actuator (69) connected to the lock (70) and operable to at least move the lock (70) from the locked position to the unlocked position.
