Summary:The present invention provides an optical connector assembling jig and an optical connector assembling method withwhich an optical connection can be reliably and readily achieved. An optical connector assembling jig (10) comprises a base (11) and a guide (15). The base (11) is provided in a longitudinal direction with an accommodation groove (12) for accommodating an optical fiber (90), and a rear pressing member (14) for restraining a rear part (94) of the optical fiber (90) accommodated in the accommodation groove (12), the rear part (94) being set apart from an embedded fiber. The guide (15) has a front holding portion (16) for holding a front part (93) of the optical fiber (90) accommodated in the accommodation groove (12), the front part (93) being near the embedded fiber, and the guide (15) being capable of moving in the longitudinal direction. Moving the base (11) toward the optical connector (73) causes the intermediate section (95) of the optical fiber (90) to separate from the accommodation groove (12) and bend. By moving the base (11) further toward the optical connector (73), a buffered fiber (91) in the optical fiber (90) can be connected to the embedded fiber.
