Summary:An accommodating intraocular lens (100) (AIOL) comprising an optic (110), and at least one haptic plate (120) coupled to the optic by at least one connector (130a-130d), the connector being less rigid than the haptic plate (120), the at least one haptic plate (120) surrounding the optic (110), and the optic (110) and haptic plate (120) having a combined surface area between 70 mm2 100 mm2.The at least one haptic plate (120) may form a continuous 360-degree boundary around the optic (110). The at least one haptic plate (120) has a width in a radial dimension of 1.0 - 3.5 mm across its entire angular extent.
