Summary:Position Tracking Device for an Object and Control Procedure Abstract 5 A device for the tracking of an object comprising a wireless communication unit (4) for the transmission of data via a wireless communications network (11), a measuring device (2), and a controller (3), wherein the wireless communication unit (4) is controlled via the controller (3) and wherein the measuring device (2) is connected to the controller (3), is disclosed. A first transportation status is detected based on the measuring device (2), in 10 which the device is located inside an aircraft or is in the state of flight. The detection of the transportation status of the device by the measuring device in an aircraft or in flight offers the opportunity to control other features of the device, in particular in regard to the wireless communication unit, in such manner as not to interfere with the electronic controls of an aircraft. If the absence of the first transportation status is detected with sufficient 15 confidence, the wireless communication unit will be activated based on potentially additional criteria, and a set of data will be sent to a data center. These data may, for example, include the detected position of the device and a corresponding individual identifier. In this manner, a device to track the position of an object is provided, which independently and universally accommodates air traffic safety requirements in regard to 20 the emission of electromagnetic radiation. 2a 5a4a Fig. 1 CPS GSMIGPRS Fig. 2
