The application device has a container (10) which is provided for a liquid application medium and the inlet opening (14) of which is provided with an application member (34). A ball (40), which projects partially from the outlet opening (38), is arranged in the outlet opening (38) connected to the interior (20) of the container (10) by a central cavity (36). A spring element (48), arranged in the central cavity (36) of the application member (34), presses the ball (40) against the outlet opening (38) in order to close the latter. The spring element (48) has a bar-shaped portion (50) which curves laterally and resiliently outwards when pressure is exerted on the portion of the ball (40) projecting from the outlet opening (38). The bar-shaped portion (50) of the spring element (48) rests with one end portion against the ball (40). The opposite second end portion of the spring element (48) is attached in the central cavity (36) of the application member (34).
