Summary: | Statistical propylene copolymers with 2-10C alk-1-ene comonomer (alkene) units are claimed, obtained by polymerisation of propylene and alkene at 50-100 degrees C and 15-40 bar with a mean residence time of 0.5-5 hrs., in presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst with: (a) a titanium-containing solid component containing a magnesium compound, a halogen, a silica gel support and a carboxylate ester as electron donor; plus (b) an aluminium compound; and (c) another electron donor as cocatalysts. The silica gel support has an average particle diameter of 5-200 mu m and an average primary particle diameter of 1-10 mu m, and contains 5-20 vol% of pores or channels with an average diameter of 1-10 mu m. Also claimed is a process for the production of propylene copolymers. |
