Summary: | During at least one cutting step a piece is cut from the tobacco cake (1) which is significantly wider than that cut in the other cutting steps. A tobacco cake is supplied to a nozzle (5) and as it exits the nozzle it is cut using a knife apparatus (6, 7), preferably a rotating knife drum (7). The circumferential distance between two or more of the blades on the knife drum is greater than that between any other two adjacent blades.
