Summary:The invention relates to a round filter cartridge which has elastic end plates (34) terminating the front surfaces of a filtering medium (13). A support tube (27) has elastic areas formed by slits (29) at its ends, said areas being engaged in a positive fit with the elastic end plates (34). This connection gives when sealing surfaces (39) are mounted on corresponding connection pieces in the filter housing, so an additional seal is not necessary. The integration of the support tube (27) in the filter cartridge facilitates the mounting process in the housing. The cartridge itself can remain free of metal, which makes it easy to dispose of.
