Summary:There are described disinfectants based on carboxylic acid for controlling mycobacteria, characterised in that they contain, in addition to a carboxylic acid component, an alcohol component, the carboxylic acid component including at least one compound of the general formula in which A is hydrogen or a carboxyl, C1-C6-alkyl or C5-C10-aryl group, R and R in each case independently of one another are hydrogen or a hydroxyl, carboxyl or C1-C3-alkyl group, m is 0 or 1 and n is a number from 0 to 5, where m is not 1 if n is 0, and the alcohol component including at least one aliphatic or aromatic alcohol of the general formula in which B is hydrogen, a C5-C20-alkyl group or a C5-C10-aryl group, R and R in each case independently of one another are hydrogen or a C1-C3-alkyl group, m is 0 or 1, n is a number from 1 to 5 and s is a number from 0 to 6, where s is not 0 it B is hydrogen or an aryl group having 6 carbon atoms in the aromatic ring.
