Summary:In granules, which are used, for example, as animal litter or as an oil absorbent, the granules 1 comprise cellulose fibres 3 and are provided with a layer 5 consisting of a preferably hydraulic binder which may be gypsum, but usually cement or CaCo3. The cellulose fibres may be paper fibres obtained from wastepaper or paper slurry, to which silicate has been added as a means of controlling the absorption and the weight. To avoid dusting of the binder layer 5, the granules may be coated with an adhesive layer 7, for example fish glue.
