Summary:The invention relates to a method of producing monolithic support materials which are obtained by the following steps: a) providing a shaping vessel; b) covalently binding a group that is susceptible to metathesis polymerization to said shaping vessel; (c) polymerizing monomers and cross-linkers that are susceptible to metathesis polymerization by means of a metathesis initiator in the presence of pore-forming materials onto the shaping vessel that has been derivatized according to step b). The invention further relates to methods for producing said materials. The inventive monolithic support materials may additionally contain monomers and are useful as sorbents for chromatographic separation methods.
