Summary:The edge of the covering- or decorative layer (4) is wrapped around the thermoplastic panel (3) and held, locating it in the position where it is to be fixed. This operation is carried out by a folding-slide (6). A heated plunger (9) is passed through an opening or recess in the folding-slide, to contact the layer. The covering is at least locally penetrated by the heated plunger. The plunger contact surface is textured; it may be pointed, grooved and/or equipped with conical or pyramidal projections (13).
