Summary:A process for treating, in particular dewatering, material webs made of mixtures of fibres or the like, in particular pulp or mechanical groundwoods, and liquids, in particular water, the first step performed being the formation of the material web 2 with subsequent pre- dewatering in at least one twin-wire press 1. According to the invention, the process is characterized in that at the discharge sides of at least two twin-wire presses 1, at least two material webs 2 are couched together, that is to say are led together, and are pressed together to form a single material web 3, whereupon the material web 3 formed in this way is fed, if appropriate, to a post- dewatering zone 4.
