Summary:Novel carbohydrate derivatives with gamma-aminopropyl groups linked via an ether function, of the general formula I are described in which X1 is H, X, CH3, C2H5, CH2CH2OH, CH2CH(OH)CH3, CH2CH(OH)CH2O, III or IV, in which n is 0 to 180, and at least one X per monosaccharide unit is a gamma-aminopropyl group linked via an ether function, of the formula -CH2CH2CH2NH2 and the remaining X are hydrogen. The novel carbohydrate derivatives I are prepared by reducing corresponding carbohydrate beta-cyanoethyl ethers with the borane- dimethyl sulphide complex BH3.S(CH3)2. The novel carbohydrate derivatives I are interesting intermediates for further syntheses. or
