Binders play a very crucial role in processing of components by the metal injection molding (MIM) process. The present chapter discusses critical aspects regarding the binders used in the MIM process. Initial sections of the chapter focus on the function and importance of binders in the MIM process. In the next section the binder chemistries and constituents are discussed. The effect of binder properties on feedstock and the various methods used to remove the binder after injection molding are discussed in the following section. The mixing techniques used to manufacture the feedstocks and examples of typical feed stocks compositions are presented in the final sections of the chapter.
