Summary:A 21-year-old female, with a history of past smoking, presented with a complaint of mouth ulcers that had been progressively worsening over the past 6 months. Clinically, she exhibited an 8 cm reddish mass in the right mandible. The mass appeared hardened, smooth, and displayed a granulomatous appearance, along with a diastema between premolars. Although tooth mobility was observed, there was no reported paresthesia or pain. Computed tomography revealed an osteolytic lesion with irregular margins, encompassing the entire alveolar bone, extending down to the mandibular base. This lesion was located in the region between the right first inferior molar and left inferior canine, with preservation of the mandibular canal and resorption of tooth roots. An incisional biopsy was conducted, and the histopathological examination revealed a proliferation of odontogenic epithelial cells with a solid growth pattern. The final diagnosis was ameloblastic carcinoma, a rare odontogenic epithelial tumor that represents the malignant counterpart of ameloblastoma. The patient was subsequently referred for oncological treatment, with support from Proex-UFES.
