Summary:Idiopathic gingival fibromatosis is a rare non-inflammatory gingival hyperplastic lesion with a slow and progressive course, significantly impacting functional, aesthetic, and psychological aspects of life. A 31-year-old female patient complained of an asymptomatic exophytic lesion in the palate region that had appeared in childhood and worsened during adolescence. Physical examination revealed two extensive pedunculated nodules bilaterally on the hard palate, originating from the gingiva attached to the maxillary teeth palate. The nodules exhibited firm consistency and a smooth surface upon palpation. Given the clinical findings and reported history, the provisional diagnosis was idiopathic gingival fibromatosis. An incisional biopsy was performed, and the anatomopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis. Due to the lesion's extensive nature, surgical excision under general anesthesia was conducted post-diagnosis. The procedure was uneventful, and the patient exhibited satisfactory evolution with no signs of recurrence.
