Dynamics of the blue shift of e tr− optical absorption spectra in ethanol–water glasses

The results of the pulse radiolysis study of ethanol containing water in the concentration range 0.8–20.56 mol% at temperatures ranging between 30 and 95 K are reported. In the presence of water, starting from ca. 3 ms after the pulse, the acceleration of the blue shift of the maximum of trapped ele...

Summary:The results of the pulse radiolysis study of ethanol containing water in the concentration range 0.8–20.56 mol% at temperatures ranging between 30 and 95 K are reported. In the presence of water, starting from ca. 3 ms after the pulse, the acceleration of the blue shift of the maximum of trapped electron spectrum takes place. It is suggested that this phenomenon, occurring at the lowest investigated temperatures (30, 50 K) is due to the structural changes in the EtOH–H 2O system.
