Magnetic excitations in UGa 3

UGa 3 behaves as an itinerant antiferromagnet with T N =67 K and an ordered moment of μ=0.7 μ B per uranium atom. Summary:UGa 3 behaves as an itinerant antiferromagnet with T N =67 K and an ordered moment of μ=0.7 μ B per uranium atom. In this paper we discuss the magnetic excitation spectrum investigated by inelastic neutron scattering. The spectrum can be described as a coupled system of two components: namely (i) a quasi-elastic and (ii) an inelastic response. The susceptibility of the quasi-elastic response exhibits an anomalous temperature dependence.
